Our Story

BOLD Jelly Beans, Inc. was born in 2017 after the premature birth of our twins. Their arrival introduced us to the NICU. A world of beeping monitors, medical rounds, and sleepless nights but also a place where we learned the importance of resilience, love, and connection. As new parents, we were faced with the challenge of creating bonds with our babies in a setting that didn’t always allow for the natural closeness families crave.

That experience planted a seed. We realized that if we, with resources and support, found the journey difficult, families in marginalized and underserved communities faced even greater challenges. Out of this understanding came BOLD Jelly Beans, Inc. — a nonprofit dedicated to helping families nurture strong child-parent relationships through education, advocacy, and community support.

Today, our work is grounded in our P.L.A.Y. framework — Programs, Literacy, Advocacy, and You — pillars that research shows are essential for lifelong success. What began as our family’s journey has grown into a bold movement: empowering families to connect, heal, and thrive together.Hester makes everything in small batches from our home base in New York.
